Introduction to Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) (Dr Alan Bowman)

The session aims to introduce workshop participants to: 

• Key principles of ACT including core assumptions of the model, and the fundamental therapeutic processes adopted by this model 

• Clinical guidelines on how to integrate ACT into your own clinical practice 

The session will include: 

• Coverage of the key theoretical principles of ACT 

• Practical examples of how to apply ACT 

• Consideration of key ACT skills for therapists 

The session will be delivered through: 

Presentations, case demonstrations, self-reflection exercises and group discussions 

The learning outcomes of the session are: 

• Participants will gain an introductory level understanding of ACT 

• Participants will be more aware of ACT-based ways of working which they can incorporate into their own work
