Under the directorship of Oonagh Atkinson and Kevin Daly, The Road Centre provides throughout Durham, Newcastle and the North East, a comprehensive psychotherapeutic service for people with a wide range of issues, including stress, anxiety, depression, redundancy and bereavement. Among our clients are those seeking help following separation, divorce, relationship breakdown and family conflict. We are experts in the field of mediation and can enable those in dispute to reach agreement and make necessary decisions.




» Counselling

Our counsellors bring together a rich variety of qualifications, experience and specialisms and offer counselling and help to those experiencing the affects of physical, psychological and sexual abuse, bullying and harassment and those coping with the aftermath of trauma and accidents.

We offer a specialist counselling service for young people, adolescents and families and present a professional and caring response to those affected by self harm and eating distress. We are often approached by individuals in the process of making important life and career decisions and help them examine the issues, gather the relevant information and reach appropriate conclusions. Counselling and therapy is provided on a one to one basis and group sessions are also available for those who would benefit from them.

» Training

Our training department delivers courses in listening and communication skills, as well as assertiveness, stress management, conflict resolution, time management and customer relations. We also deliver programmes for corporate customers in team building, creative management and dealing with aggressive and potentially violent members of the public.

The Road Centre offers a service to other training providers and can facilitate your training event at your premises, or other venue. The Road Centre is committed to providing an up to date programme of professional and personal development for counsellors and psychotherapists, and to this end hosts regular courses, workshops and seminars, dealing with current issues and topics of interest.
